Two Months Later

Prior to writing this blog and while my daughter was still snuggled in my wife's belly, the plan was to write once or twice a week detailing my experience with raising this wonderful bundle of joy.

Two weeks into her birth, that plan went out the window. I believe parents understand this better than anyone when I say that, this new life has taken full control of everything out of me. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, all that I have has been put to making sure that our baby is safe and taken care of.  Yet I still feel like I want to give more to her.

I've said this before, this has been the best feeling in the whole wide world. My wife and I just marvel at her presence and we are amazed at how beautiful this has been for our little family.

I will never win the World Series. I will never play in the Super Bowl. I will not cross the finish line in Talladega. But I would imagine that being in those moments is in my humble opinion, equal to being a father to this wonderful baby.

It is truly silly to admit when I admire at her every breathe, laugh when she smiles, and even adore her when she cries because she is hungry. But I wouldn't trade this feeling in the world.

I will try to post more frequently as our schedule normalizes. I have some videos and photos to share once they are organized.

In the meantime, check out this short video of baby Ayumi or IU for short smiling beautifully in her mother's arms. Baby Ayumi - 2 Months 3 Days Old

Quick Update 12/27/2012

I apologize that I have not written recently. The last few weeks have been nothing short of a whirlwind. I just wanted to quickly show you a couple pictures of our little baby.

Ayumi was born on December 7th. She was due on November 21st but after many test, she and her mama were both fine so there was no cause for alarm. About two weeks later, she decided it was time to make her debut.

I will write more when my hand is not holding a diaper in one hand and baby wipes in another.

Quick Update 12/01/12

My wife and I went to the Hospital today to monitor the health of the baby. We are now over a week past her due date. We met with her Doctor on Wednesday and my wife was put on a stress test machine to monitor the health of the baby. The results showed that the baby was normal and healthy so we have nothing to be alarmed about.

This morning we went to the hospital to get another stress test and again the results showed both the mama and the baby are in tip top shape. Baby Ayumi is just taking her wonderful time in her mother's womb.

If we don't have Ayumi by next Tuesday, then the plan is to induce her that weekend. This has been the longest two weeks of my life. We will just have to wait and see in the next couple of days.

The Waiting Game - Week 40

"Patience is the companion of wisdom." - Saint Augustine

The first 8 months of my wife's pregnancy brought so many wonderful mix of emotions but this last week has been quite testing to my nerves. My wife is about 40 weeks and while both the mommy and the baby are healthy, there isn't any sign that Ayumi is ready to come out yet.

I played sports all my life and have been in pretty tough situations but this takes the cake out of all of them. Fortunately my wife has her nesting period to keep her busy and my many personal projects and work to keep me occupied.

This Thanksgiving week could be the longest and nerve racking week of my life so far. Wish us luck for a healthy and hopefully soon to be birth of Ayumi.

If you have any suggestions or comments regarding these tense moments, please leave a comment below.

Our Story Part 1 - First Meeting, Unforgettable

"Did you want to go shopping" - Me, the first time I saw my wife

If you can say that to a woman and she doesn't run away and call security, you wife her right now. If instead she laughs hysterically and thinks you're funny, well my friend you are on your way to a happy and wonderful courtship.

We Live In An Igloo

"Winter is nature's way of saying, Up yours." - Robert Byrne

I am finally beginning to understand why someone coined the term, 'bun in the oven'. Throughout my wife's pregnancy everything has been 20 degrees hotter. As a man who came from a tropical background and a person who enjoys hot summer days more than the cold wintery weather, this has been one of the hardest things to adjust to.

39th Week and Anticipation

"Fatherhood is great because you can ruin someone from scratch." - Jon Stewart

This morning I took my wife for her 39th week Doctor's visit. As some of you know she is at full term at this point in her pregnancy. Her due date is 1 week from today and the anticipation of Ayumi's arrival is greater now more than ever.

Quick Update 11/11/12

The plan over the weekend was to do a v-log and assemble the crib. Unfortunately my wife and I were both at work when the UPS delivered the crib and they needed a signature to be able to drop the package. They will try again on Monday and we should get it because my wife will be at home all day.

As for the v-log, we had a lot of preparations and cleaning in order to get ready for the baby and that took a majority of our time. My wife has been full term and her due date is fast approaching.

I will try to do combined introduction and maybe some videos of my attempt to assemble the crib tomorrow after work.
